COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The first week of August presented more ProRodeo action than any week so far in the 2019 season. With 47 ProRodeo competitions offering more than $2.13 million in prize money, there were ample opportunities to win big Aug. 5-11.

Four of last week’s competitions had the added bonus of being part of the ProRodeo Tour. Successful rodeo athletes at the Lea County PRCA Rodeo in Lovington, N.M., the Farm-City Pro Rodeo in Hermiston, Ore., the Sikeston (Mo.) Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo and the Lawton (Okla.) Rangers Rodeo cashed in for both the PRCA | RAM World Standings as well as the ProRodeo Tour Standings – a race that’s getting tighter as the ProRodeo Tour Finale in Puyallup, Wash., approaches Sept. 5-8.

Six of last week’s competitions featured six-figure payouts, four of which were ProRodeo Tour events:
• Lovington: $233,203
• Hermiston: $214,899
Strathmore (Alberta) Stampede: $213,803
• Sikeston: $160,312
• Lawton: $149,339
Cache County Fair and Rodeo in Logan, Utah: $100,835

With so much money up for grabs, the stakes were high and competition was stiff – which is reflected in the highest scores and fastest times of the week.

Bareback rider Jake Brown posted a 92-point ride on The Cervi Brothers' Gander Goose in Sikeston, Aug. 10.

Steer wrestler Cody Harmon made a 3.1-second run in Lovington, Aug. 8.

Three sets of team ropers stopped the clock in 4.0 seconds last week: Tanner Baldwin and Nano Garza at the Larimer County Fair & Rodeo in Loveland, Colo., Aug. 5; Quinn Kesler and Colby Siddoway at the Bozeman (Mont.) Stampede, Aug. 10; and Lane Ivy and Cesar de la Cruz in Hermiston, Aug. 10.

Saddle bronc rider Chase Brooks scored 90 points on Sankey Pro Rodeo & Phenom Genetics' Black Tie at the Missoula (Mont.) Stampede, Aug. 10.

Tie-down roper Colt Papy made a 7.2-second run at the Summit County Fair & Rodeo in Coalville, Utah, Aug. 10.

Steer roper Travis Mills posted an 8.4-second run at Building Champions with Sioux Ranch in Wright, Wyo., Aug. 10.

Barrel racer Lynette Brodoway finished her run at the Jasper (Alberta) Heritage Rodeo in 12.996 seconds, Aug. 10.
